Thanksgiving SD '08 and Diana's BDay

This Thanksgiving fell on My Mom's bday, so we had double the reason to celebrate!!
I brought Grandma and Auntie Barbara down with me for a delicious Turkey dinner.
Dad had to work for part of the day :( so we ate a lot later than usual. By 8pm I was so ansy that I made my sisters bring out board games to play.
My mom opened her birthday gifts and when it was finally time to eat, it was well worth the wait!!
Check out our family fun!

Two is better than one

OK, so for a while now I've been waiting to tell everyone how Leesa and I are expecting our next child. We found out a few weeks ago, as we were rehearsing my first show at Laguna Blanca, but Leesa wanted to wait to tell people until after the first doctor visit. Well, it turned out to be a good idea. Leesa told the doctor that she felt much sicker than she did the first time, and had already begun putting on weight when she hadn't put on a pound until the second trimester the first time around. When he turned on the ultrasound, the doctor instantly said, "well, here's why you're sicker - there's two of them in there." Sure enough, two separate zygotes and placentas sitting there on the screen for everyone to see.

Due dates are apparently fuzzier with twins, since the average twin birth gestates 35 weeks, plus we're doing another planned caesarian, but it looks like it will be sometime in June. I will get some pictures up once I get access to a scanner.

Hanna's initial reaction was very similar to Leesa's - she was quiet for a long minute, then volunteered, "well, taking care of TWO babies is a lot of work!" We've learned to expect interesting quotes from her, though. When we explained that the doctor had to cut open Leesa's tummy in order to get her out, she said, "It seems like that would make you die."

Names are already being bandied about - I was denied my inital request to name one "Walker" and the other "Texas Ranger."

Tamale Making with Grandma & Auntie Becky

On November 8th at (I cant believe I got up this early on a saturday) 7AM, I met Grandma at Auntie Becky's to make tamales for Brian's homecoming.
It was totally worth getting up.
I got to hear some great, funny anecdotes about Great Grandma Reyes, learn all the secrets to the tamale making, and visit with my cousin Mikey who happened to be there for the weekend!
Some of the work was not so pleasant(separating the fat), and repetitive(spreading masa on each corn husk) but it was all worth it for the great tamales we got to eat in the end!
Most importantly for the one-on-one time I got to share with my Aunt and my Grandma; I will never forget.
And you can check out pics from the day here

time to put the meat in!!
yum!

The Campa girls go to a Tunison shower!

On Saturday, November 8th--I met my mom and Tahlya in Corona for the Tunison family's 2nd baby shower. This one was for Alisa, welcoming her first child to be named Riley! Auntie Nancy was there as well as Grace. We played some games, ate some delicious food and talked of course!
Mom did the flower arrangements which were beautiful as always. My boyfriend let me borrow his camera, so I got to play around with the settings and have fun being creative. Here are the pics.
Pretty sisters!!
It was fun being with the ladies and seeing my mom and sis for a bit.

Drive-In Date with the Campa Girls!!

One of the last weekends of the summer, my sisters were in West Covina visiting, so we called over Kristi and Jacki for a Drive-In movie night. I only took a few pictures, you can see here
We cushioned the bed of my truck, brought some candies and snack, and the girls made bracelets out of coke tabs!
The movie we saw was Get Smart I believe with Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway.

Grandma's 70th Bday Celebration!!

For Grandma(Lita)'s 70th birthday, we threw her a surprise party in West Covina.
All the Campa's were there (except Brian, Auntie Barbara filled in for him! haha)
There was food and gifts and we even sang Las Mananitas to her!! Yeah, we had to practice several times to get it right!
We also celebrated Alaina and Makayla's birthdays because they were on the weekend of the party--

Joe's Directoral Debut!!

My brother directed his first play in Santa Barbara and Leesa was a lead role! The play was called Red Herring and it was hilarious! The show was at the Circle Bar B, a really neat place surrounded by woods and there was a delicious dinner for the guests. It was also Hanna's birthday this weekend. Me, Dad, Grandma, and Auntie Barbara took the trip up to Santa Barbara.

The Cast

I take Mom and Dad on a DATE!

I invited my parents to see a concert at the House of Blues San Diego to see Building a Better Spaceship perform.
I have known this band since college when I made a music video for them for my Senior Thesis. A year later, I made another video for them to the song, "Novocain".

It was fun just the three of us. Plus, the House of Blues in such a cool venue-I want to live there!!

Hanna showed me her incredible room and her secret play room in the downstairs coat closet.
They took us for a walk by the beach and Hanna showed us how to find the butterflies.
We also played a lot of wii and Hanna shook her booty and basically entertained us all weekend.
It was a lot of fun.

Tunison Baby Shower-Aaron & Kristen

Mary's first grandchild! The Tunison household hosted the party for Aaron(Mary's son) and his wife Kristen's first child.
Many ladies were there including mom, me, tahlie, Auntie Nancy, Grace, and some more of Mom's friends.
The party was supposed to be outside, but because of the crazy Santa Ana winds, all four large round tables had to squish in Mary's living room!!
Fun games, cute decorations(by Alisa) and pretty flowers (by mom)

Halloween 07 San Diego

Halloween 2007 the Campa girls hosted one of the first of their great Halloween Parties complete with a scary Haunted house and lots of good treats!
The party was held the weekend after Halloween, due to the fires that hit the area at that time. Luckily, the fire did not affect the Campa home!
The weekend happened to fall on Reinel's new boyfriend Mikey's bday.. so he had a very scary birthday!!
